For what purpose
(and for whom)
does consultancy serve?
A good consultancy is meant to guide your creative process, identify flaws, and highlight points of improvement. Above all, its aim is to propose solutions. I like to refer to my consultancy as a 'creative and strategic' consultancy. Is it just because it sounds fancy? No! It's because these are my specialties, and they have been my focus during my years in the market. But you might be wondering, 'Camila, what do you mean?' Let me explain better, and then you can understand how I can assist you (or not, and that's okay—no hard feelings here, hehe).

The service of creative and strategic consultancy for audiovisual projects can be applied at different stages, from development to the final delivery of the recorded and edited material. It is capable of addressing various needs, serving those who work outside the field or are just starting and need a kind of mentoring, as well as the creative person seeking to understand their initial idea or boost an already developed one. The service also caters to large or medium-sized production companies that already have projects within a pipeline and a player and feel the need for an external neutral view or who just need to tidy up their workspace—happens to everyone, don't worry.

"Guiding the creative process, identifying flaws and points of improvement. And, above all, proposing solutions."
Not only the production company, but also the production company-player relationship can be mediated by someone with a macro view of both sides, and a special consultancy can come in handy, facilitating the exchange between direction, production, and the player, avoiding unnecessary conflicts, right? Yes, I know well! I named this special consultancy "creative supervision."

Well, back to "creative and strategic." Both approaches are not separate; they go hand in hand and are intertwined in my consultancy sessions. The creative focus encompasses everything from the development of the idea (adjusting the genre and format, studying references, thinking about research, character development, scripts, etc.) to the end of the process, such as reviewing cuts before they go out for client or partner approval, for example. On the other hand, the strategic focus will start from where the project is at the moment, aiming to find a space for it in the market. This can range from working on the sales bible to identifying opportunities, players, and ideal events for that idea, or even training for pitches and business rounds.
Why invest in
consultancy?
It's already very expensive to produce, Camila! Why would I spend budget on another stage?

Consultancy is nothing more than an extra pair of eyes for the work, bringing a clean and fresh perspective to that material. And if this pair of eyes is trained to identify flaws and suggest changes to both the format and narrative, while also helping to expand the creative and sales strategy, even better, right? And only someone with experience from both the production side and inside a player can provide this broader view (creative and strategic consultancy, as I said). I say consultancy is a kind of therapy for the project. And everyone needs therapy!

In other words, only you can answer why to invest or not. The only thing I'm sure of is that we always develop a project wanting it to be the best possible! But, in general, people involved in it lose sight of the material they're working on - whether it's the creator or even the team and the production company. Being inside the project and the idea for a long time, at some point, it becomes difficult to distance oneself and see flaws or points of improvement (that's natural). And that's where consultancy comes in!
"I say consultancy is a kind of therapy for the project. And everyone needs therapy!”
What my consultancy
doesn't cover?
My consultancy process does not encompass general production planning, such as a detailed budget study and/or schedule, for example.

However, if you need to delve into these points, I can assist you in finding a production specialist to provide the necessary support, okay? Don't worry!
And how much
does this cost?
As Jessie J said, 'Forget about the price tag' (though here, nothing is just a game, but I don't lose my sense of humor). Regarding the INVESTMENT to be made, everything depends. There isn't a general fixed rate in my case. Some variables that can affect the cost include:

· Complexity. Do you need an evaluation only of your presentation material? Or do you need a general guide to start development? At which stages of the project will the consultancy be involved? Is on-site work required (such as in the editing room, for example) or is it strictly online? Will the consultancy interact with only one person or the entire team, in the case of a more advanced project?

· Time. What is the ideal estimated time to work on that project? Will we need a weekly session or more? Will it last a few sessions or several weeks or months? What is the frequency of our discussions?

· Who is seeking the service. Are you starting to develop an idea on your own, or do you have a production company already greenlit within a player? Let's agree that these are very distinct realities, and it's only fair to tailor the investment to each case.

To receive the initial quote, you should get in touch and tell me more about yourself and the project you want to work on.
